Polyfab™ Polytex®
Ideal for small to medium-sized residential shade sails and shade structures, Polytex® offers maximum ultraviolet protection against the harmful UV rays of the sun.
This shade sail material is made with High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), consisting of monofilament and tape structure. The fabric is knitted together in a “Raschel Knit” lock stitch to assure that the fabric does not tear or fray if pierced or cut. Polytex® is designed for outdoor shade structures and architectural shade sails, granting more than 95% UV defense. Its high strength-to-weight ratio, mildew resistance, and fire rating make it an ideal choice for small-scale projects where sun protection is needed, like canopies or patio shade sails. The lightweight shade cloth is phthalate and lead-free.
Shade sails made from Polytex® also offer a striking alternative to flat roof timber pergolas and can be designed to accentuate any location, whether it be a home, garden, or commercial establishment.
It is recommended that these modular free standing structures or shade sails be designed to hold the shade cloth under firm tension.
